Am I Doing The Right Thing By Following My Purpose? | In The Circle with Tommy Rosen 70
In this episode of In the Circle, we dive into a compelling discussion with Patrick, a dedicated individual in long-term recovery, who inquires: Should Purpose Guide Your Path When Helping Others?
Patrick is at a crossroads in his service journey as he questions whether to pursue a conventional counseling career or continue his grassroots efforts of directly assisting people on the streets of San Francisco. Our discussion opens up a broader exploration of what it means to follow one's "Dharma," or true purpose, in the realm of service and recovery.
This is a powerful reminder that true service comes from the heart, driven by a genuine desire to help others and make a difference.

Quitting on the surface may sound like a logical conclusion. People become addicted to pharmaceutical drugs that are toxic and likely more dangerous. Sober hearts and clear thinkers need sobriety at a minimum.

Dear Tommy I have listened to many of your videos and I do appreciate you openness. No matter how humiliating or embarrassing I keep coming bact to listen to people like you who are successful in recovery. The most I am able to get free of acting out my addiction is three months. I am 62 soon to be 63 and have been hard core into process adiction past 8 years. I keep believing the lie that its too late for me and is it possible to get free and find some sense of peace. Im aware I have unresolved trauma from growing up with an alcoholic narcissistic father and an unstable mother who couldnt protect me from the terror and insecurity. I dont want to die in my addiction to gambling and the drinking to cover the pain of gambling. Iam able to not drink or use pot. Its the gambling that I let keep sucking me in. I have not found a good sponsor yet. But I realize I cannot give up. I think whats under the gambling addiction is live addiction. I keep hitting my head against the wall. Im triggered in meetings but tried some other ones and wasnt so bad. I do know there is a higher power. I have experienced it. I have fear that I have not been able to turn on my self agency and how the addi6 trumps everything. I am sabotaging myself along with financially and I am causing horrible stress on myself. I am stuck in the flight fawn response. I have heard you say 90 meetings in 90 days and I keep resisting thinking I can do it myself. I need 90 meetings in 90 days even if some arnt so good. I know this is a ling text but I need to keep reaching out and be heard.

Without any medication 3 days r the most hard time u cannot stay clam even for 1 hour and that 1 hour feels like 1 year but after 3rd day u will feel happiness in every small thing and u will be happy for leaving drugs but if u feel too much discomfort buy some liquor and drink only for reliving pain but dont get too much drunk cause it will make ur withdrawal much worse so just save that bottle for 1 week and drink only if u r in too much pain. I hope this tip will help u in ur withdrawal

I came off fentanyl alone and was extremely sick for about a month before it got any better. After that I still felt pretty bad for 2 weeks to a month. Now I've been clean almost 5 months. That was hands down the hardest thing I have ever done but the most worth it. To anyone going through it does get better if you stick to it and if nobody else has told you I'm proud of you!!! Keep it up

It's crazy to think 4 years later I replied at the start of my detoxing. I was successful in escaping the addiction but it wasn't easy. Worst part there is two withdrawals stages I had to go through. First was the initial withdrawal period that lasted a couple of days. The second stage is much longer (depending on how long you took it for) and starts after two weeks. I tapered down the amount I took before I started my detoxing journey so it eas not as bad as it would have been if I started with a higher dosage. Best thing to do is cutdown the milligrams to the lowest dosage first and then how many you take per day. Once you get down to only taking one pill of the lowest dosage per day, then you can start your detoxing journey. Make sure to allow your body to accumulate to each taper step or you will suffer during the tapering process.

Tommy. I love you. I've met you three or four times, in person. So my difficulty with your talks is that you got sober very early. 20s? And your thing with sugar I do not identify with. I have a book of yours. I've attended yoga classes with you, many times. I Wonder if you can understand an older person who's addiction began after 50. Probably before, but there was a balance, pre-terrorist experience. So. I personally have had acquaintance with you and try to listen to you. But your paradigm does not address my issues. I've sort of wanted yo tell you this for years.

When I first started smoking (20+ years ago), it was like meeting a new best friend. It was glorious. I loved it. Today ... I just don't really love it anymore and that makes me sad. Quitting makes me sad but I know it has to be done. The racing heart, anxiety, and just wanting to stay home has to stop. No fair.

Yes quitters who do think my sober life is better you great i have been there myself certainly its worth to be sober. But other end of the spectrum you know for my chronic pain its magical herb to put me off the pain which i cant definitely cope with my pain being sober... The enormous amount of severe pain wont let us live but small dose of hit can make you live with pain an make you bit functional without hitting the edge of sucidal mode an keeps you live your life with pain is beautiful mixed with misery at same time. Chronic pain an pot using complexity is very different subject of different level. Go with what is best for you guys.
